- A Beka Book
The A Beka curriculum has been produced as an outgrowth of the Pensacola Christian School, in Pensacola, Florida, USA. This school has also given rise to the Pensacola Christian College, a tertiary institution of some 5,000 students.
A Beka curriculum is produced by Bible-believing Christians, with a strong patriotic American influence. It is a self-consciously Christian curriculum and has very strong support from Christian schools in the USA and elsewhere. The materials are beautifully produced, usually in full colour, and easily match anything on the non-Christian market. Their price structure is also very competitive, particularly in the text books, which represent excellent value for money although most are write-in texts not designed to be used again. Teacher manuals and answer keys are quite expensive. Whilst the quality of paper used is good the soft cover binding means the books will not last more than a year or two, unless treated very carefully. The academic standard of the curriculum is quite high.
