The Gift of Music
The Gift of Music is a foundational music program with a biblical emphasis written by Melbourne music teacher Wendy Hill. It provides an alternative to humanistic methods, acknowledging God as the source of our creativity and musical abilities.
The Gift of Music began with two main branches, a general music course called The Elements of Music and a piano course called Music for our Maker. The piano course is no longer being taught but piano skills are taught in the general course up to AMEB Grade 3 level.

The Method
The Gift of Music program uses a biblical teaching approach based on Moses’ method of teaching the Ten Commandments as described in Deuteronomy 6:1–25. Moses taught the whole being — body, soul and spirit. He used a multi-sensory approach incorporating aural learning (listening), visual learning (seeing), oral learning (speaking) and kinesthetic learning (touching). The Gift of Music program encourages students to be creative by putting Scripture to music.
Parental involvement is strongly encouraged as God appointed parents as the most influential teachers of their children.
Philosophy
The scriptural basis for The Gift of Music program is Romans 1:20. ‘For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities — His eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made so that men are without excuse.’ The fourteen music elements are like stepping stones which take us to spiritual foundations of music. They help us to focus on God’s Word, rather than worldy gods of humanism, knowledge and money.
‘In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.’
— Proverbs 3:6
